General insurers' premiums rise 8%

Sri Lankan general insurers' premiums grew nearly 8% year over year to 96 billion Sri Lankan rupees ($550 million) in 2018, Asia Insurance Review reported citing sources. Total insurance premiums grew 9.5% to LKR 176 billion. A report by Sri Lanka-based Ceylinco Insurance P.L.C. said that uncertain political climate is hampering insurers' operations in the country.
