Suzuki likely to recall 2 million vehicles, take $718-million hit

Japanese automaker Suzuki Motor Corp. is likely to recall about 2 million vehicles related to its pre-shipment inspection scandal, The Japan News reported. Toshihiro Suzuki, the automaker's president, said that the recall is expected to cost Suzuki about 80 billion Japanese yen ($718 million). Suzuki said that unqualified inspectors improperly certified vehicles with substandard brake and speedometer equipment between June 1981 and January this year.
