Gulf of Guinea accounts for more than half of global pirate attacks
Posted On: Apr. 9, 2019 6:06 AM CSTA report found that the Gulf of Guinea in Western Africa accounted for 22 pirate attacks out of a total of 38 attacks globally in the first quarter, Hellenic Shipping News Worldwide reported. The report by U.K.-based International Maritime Bureau found that the region also accounted for all of the worldwide crew kidnappings with 21 crew members kidnapped across five separate attacks.
