Allianz eyes expansion in Eastern, Southern Africa

Coenraad Vrolijk, chief executive of France-based Allianz Africa S.A., said that the insurer is considering expanding its operations in Eastern and Southern Africa as part of its plans to become a pan-African insurer, Pulse reported citing sources. Mr. Vrolijk said that Allianz recently purchased an 8% stake in Nigeria-based African Reinsurance Corp. Ltd. and set up a regional office in Abidjan in Ivory Coast.
