Automakers could face billions in fines over CO2 emissions

U.S.-based Moody's Corp. said that the European Union could fine several carmakers up to $12.6 billion for failing to meet its 2021 carbon dioxide emissions targets, Climate Home News reported. The ratings agency said that more than half of the automakers' new cars are likely to breach the EU's standards.
