Munich Reinsurance America names specialty unit COO

Munich Reinsurance America Inc. on Thursday said it has named Adam Edelstein as chief operating officer for Munich Re Specialty Insurance, a new commercial insurance unit in North America.

Mr. Edelstein will head the buildout of Munich Re Specialty Insurance as it pursues its business goals and objectives, the reinsurer said in a statement. He will report to Mike Kerner, CEO, Munich Re Specialty Insurance.

Mr. Edelstein was previously the owner of Quintessential Solutions LLC, a boutique consulting firm, and prior to that was COO and partner with Hiscox Ltd.

He is based in New York.

Mr. Kerner was named to lead the new unit last December.
