Pollution forces authorities to halt factories' operations

Narongsak Osotthanakorn, governor of Phayao Province in Thailand, has ordered local factories to halt operations for up to two days after air quality continued to deteriorate in the region, The Nation reported. Mr. Osotthanakorn told disaster prevention and mitigation officials to impose the restriction on factories that generate airborne particulates of 2.5 microns or less in diameter until the situation returns to normal.
