Law firm sues Hiscox over ransomware attack claimPosted On: Mar. 26, 2019 6:32 AM CST
The U.K.-based DLA Piper International L.L.P. law firm has sued Bermuda-based Hiscox Ltd. after the insurer refused to settle claims totaling several millions of pounds related to the June 2017 Petya ransomware attack, Sharecast reported citing sources. The ransomware attack wiped out all emails and telephone numbers and disrupted the law firm's operations for two days. Several insurance policies contain clauses under which insurers do not have to pay out for an act of war such as terrorism, which could include cyber attacks, the sources said.
