Workers' strikes likely to cost firms up to $600 million

A Mexican industry association said that workers' strikes in the city of Matamoros in Tamaulipas are likely to have cost local firms up to $600 million and forced some businesses to shutter their operations, Mexico News Daily reported. Luis Aguirre Lang, the association's president, said that production stoppages and order cancellations have forced some firms including Chinese automotive manufacturer Joyson Safety Systems and U.S.-based aerospace engineering company Parker-Hannifin Corp. to shut their local operations.
