Chemical plant's executives arrested after blast kills 47 people

Chinese police arrested Jiangsu Tianjiayi Chemical Co. Ltd.'s executives after an explosion at its plant on March 21 killed at least 47 people, South China Morning Post reported citing sources. The blast destroyed the plant in Yancheng with only the workshop frame still standing. Cao Lubao, mayor of Yancheng, said that nearly 3,000 people including employees of nearby plants were evacuated and schools were closed while authorities monitored air and water quality.
