Miners scale back port operations as cyclones approach

U.K.-based miners BHP Group P.L.C. and Rio Tinto Group are scaling back operations at ports in northern Australia's Pilbara region due to the impending cyclones Veronica and Trevor, The Sydney Morning Herald reported. Michael Gunner, chief minister of Northern Territory, declared a state of emergency and ordered evacuation of people in coastal areas.
