Crime, prevention cost retailers $2.6 billion: Survey

A survey by the British Retail Consortium found that crime and preventive measures cost retailers nearly £2 billion ($2.6 billion) in 2018, up 12% from 2017, Retail Gazette reported. The survey found that customer theft cost the retailers £700 million, up 31% from 2017. The total cost accounted for approximately 20% of the retail industry's profits.
