Counterfeit goods' global trade totals $509 billion

France-based Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development said that counterfeit and pirated goods accounted for more than 3% – or $509 billion worth – of global trade volume in 2016, Supply Chain Dive reported. OECD said that counterfeit products hit the footwear, clothing and leather goods industries the most with the fake goods mainly originating in China or Hong Kong.
