Huawei builds own operating systems to mitigate disruption risk

China-based Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. has developed its own operating systems for its devices in case U.S.-based Google L.L.P.'s Android operating systems become unavailable due to political tensions, South China Morning Post reported citing sources. Richard Yu Chengdong, chairman of Huawei Device, said that the proprietary systems will serve as a contingency plan for its smartphone and computer production in case of disruption related to Google and Apple Inc.'s systems.
