Firms fined €56 million for GDPR violations

European data protection agencies have levied €56 million ($63 million) in fines for General Data Protection Regulation-related breaches since the law was enforced in May 2018, The Register reported. Vivienne Artz, chief privacy officer of U.S.-based market research firm Refinitiv said that U.S.-based Google L.L.P. accounted for the majority of the total fine after France penalized the tech giant €50 million for privacy violations.
