Pioneer taps former XL exec to lead US operations

Pioneer Underwriting Ltd., which does business as Pioneer Underwriters, on Friday said it has named Nick Greggains CEO of its U.S. operation, effective March 25.
He will replace current U.S. CEO Gene Hinman, who will become president of Pioneer U.S. until his retirement at the end of 2019, London-based Pioneer said in a statement.
Mr. Greggains was CEO of XL Catlin Canada until April 2018, and director of underwriting of XL Catlin Americas prior to that, according to his LinkedIn profile.
He will be based in New York and report to Pioneer Group CEO Andrew McMellin, according to the statement.
“Nick has the talent, expertise and market recognition to spearhead our expansion plans,” Mr. McMellin said in the statement, adding, “I would like to thank Gene for his success in establishing Pioneer in the U.S.”
