Finland to ban coal use for energy production

Finland has approved a proposal to ban the use of coal to produce energy starting May 1, 2029, forcing local coal plants to prepare to halt operations, Devdiscourse reported citing sources. Data from government agency Statistics Finland showed that coal accounted for 8% of the country's total energy consumption in the first nine months of 2018.
