Chubb appoints treasurer

Chubb Ltd. said that Mark Hammond, now executive vice president and chief financial officer for the company's Europe and Eurasia & Africa regions, will be appointed treasurer, effective March 1.

Mr. Hammond, based in Philadelphia, will be responsible for Chubb's corporate and credit banking functions worldwide, financial and capital modeling, rating agency relationships, tax planning and compliance, credit management, reinsurance security analysis, corporate insurance and treasury operations globally, the company said in a statement Thursday.

Mr. Hammond will report to Philip Bancroft, executive vice president, Chubb Group and chief financial officer, Chubb Ltd.

Philadelphia-based Ken Koreyva, Chubb Group senior vice president who has served as treasurer since he joined the company, then Ace Ltd., in 2002, will step down and assume a new senior advisory role in the company's global finance organization focused on operational efficiency and change management, the statement said, and advise Mr. Hammond on the leadership transition to the treasurer role.

"Mark is a seasoned finance executive with substantial experience in insurance and financial accounting," Mr. Bancroft said in the statement.  "In his 10 years with the company, he has demonstrated technical proficiency, leadership and general management skills in both U.S. and international finance organizations.”
