Here’s one we haven’t heard: A woman walks into a bar and relays insurance troubles to the bartender, who puts her in touch with a cash-only insurance guy.

It happened to a woman in Lincoln Park, Michigan, who thought her bartender was giving her sound advice, setting her up with his friend “T.J.” to purchase car insurance, reported the News-Herald of Southgate, Michigan, on Thursday.

Authorities said the insurance man arrived at the woman’s house, where he provided her with paperwork and “proof of insurance” through AAA. The woman told the insurance salesman she wanted to purchase the insurance. When he advised that he only accepted cash, the woman paid him the fee, the newspaper reported.

After “T.J. left the residence, the woman noticed two discrepancies on the documents — her address was incorrectly recorded on the paperwork and there were multiple policy numbers listed for the same vehicle,” according to the account.

The woman then called AAA, who claimed they did not know T.J. and their fraud unit would look into the matter, the newspaper reported.
