Banks told to boost cyber security after rise in attacks

The Hong Kong Association of Banks urged local lenders to strengthen cyber security and protect customer data after the number of cyber attacks targeting banks doubled in 2018, South China Morning Post reported. Data from the Hong Kong Monetary Authority showed that 142 online scams including false banking websites, phishing emails and fake banking apps occurred in 2018, a threefold increase from the 44 scams in 2017.
