Axis recruits former AIG exec

Bermuda-based insurer and reinsurer Axis Capital Holdings Ltd. said Monday it has hired former American International Group Inc. executive Robert Quane as head of underwriting and portfolio optimization.

In this newly created role, Mr. Quane will establish groupwide underwriting framework, guidelines and policies at Axis, and oversee its portfolio optimization process, the company said in a statement.

Mr. Quane, who spent 22 years at AIG, most recently as head of global commercial property, and is an actuary, will also manage exposure management and underwriting risk frameworks and chair the peril/product boards, the statement said.

Based in New York, Mr. Quane will report to Eric Gesick, group chief underwriting officer at Axis, the statement said.
