Aspen Insurance takes nearly $150-million hit from catastrophes

Bermuda-based Aspen Insurance Holdings Ltd. posted a net loss of nearly $147 million in the fourth quarter of 2018 driven by catastrophe losses across the world, The Royal Gazette reported. The disasters included typhoon Jebi in Japan, wildfires in California and hurricane Michael in the United States. Gross written premiums fell nearly 12.5% year over year to $603 million.
