Rubber chicken alert: It’s not a joke

Tyson Foods Inc. is recalling 36,420 pounds of chicken nuggets it says may contain bits of rubber, Reuters reported Wednesday.

The Springdale, Arkansas-based company is asking consumers to check their freezers for “White Meat Panko” chicken nuggets following consumer complaints of the rubber pieces in the nuggets, according to the wire service.

There have been no confirmed reports of bad reactions after consuming the recalled panko chicken nuggets, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service said in a statement Tuesday.

Reuters reports that the latest recall comes on the heels of Tyson's recall in June 2018 of 3,120 pounds of breaded chicken tenderloins, after a supplier notified them that an ingredient may contain pieces of blue and clear soft plastic.

Meanwhile, packaged meat producer Perdue Foods, of Salisbury, Maryland, on Tuesday also recalled about 21,348 packages of “fun-shaped” chicken breast nuggets “due to misbranding and an undeclared allergen,” according to media reports.
