Axis recruits exec to Canada unit from Gen Re

Axis Re, the reinsurance unit of Pembroke, Bermuda-based Axis Capital Holdings Ltd., said Tuesday it has hired Jason Arbuckle from General Re Corp. as head of underwriting for Canada.

Mr. Arbuckle, who spent 20 years at Gen Re, most recently as vice president – North American regional program specialist, will take charge of operations at Axis Re Canada’s Toronto-based office, Axis said in a statement.

His responsibilities include growing Axis Re’s Canadian market business and identifying and establishing new partnerships in the region, the statement said.
