Heatwaves trigger power outages in Australia

Heatwaves triggered power outages across Australia and forced the Australian Energy Market Operator Ltd. to cut power to U.S.-based Alcoa Corp's aluminum smelter in Portland on Jan. 24 and Jan. 25., Reuters reported citing sources. Jodie Read, spokeswoman for Alcoa said that the company will not be compensated for the curtailment.
