China to set up earthquake alert system

China is building an advanced earthquake alert system under which engineers are setting up more than 15,000 sensors across the country, Business Recorder reported citing sources. The sensors will send electrical pulses to the system's control center and to people's smartphones, less than two seconds after a quake occurs. China's Ministry of Emergency Management is overseeing the system, which is expected to be completed in 2022.
