N.H. considering bill that would allow public to view comp filings

A bill that would open workers compensation rate filings to the public for viewing is now in committee in New Hampshire, according to legislative update for H.B. 285, introduced on Wednesday.

The insurance department requested the bill, sponsored by Rep. Rebecca McBeath, D-Rockingham 26, according to an introduction made public Wednesday.

The bill would declare that “when approved by the insurance commissioner, workers compensation rates are open to public inspection” and includes “filing and any supporting information not considered proprietary pursuant to” state law.

It was sent to the Labor, Industrial and Rehabilitative Services committee and is slated to be out of committee by March 14, according to information on the state’s legislative website.
