Apple faces sales ban for some iPhones after losing patents case

A regional court in Munich ruled in favor of U.S.-based chipmaker Qualcomm Inc. in a patent dispute against Apple Inc. which could lead to a sales ban for some iPhones in Germany, The Local.de reported. Under the court's ruling, Qualcomm would technically be allowed to halt iPhone sales in models 7 plus, 7, 8, 8 plus and X that violate the patent rights. The court said that the injunction banning sales of affected iPhones can be imposed immediately if Qualcomm paid a security deposit amounting to €668 million ($763 million).
