Sachin N. Shah has been named CEO of Asia-Pacific, AIG General Insurance, American International Group Inc. announced Wednesday.

Mr. Shah’s appointment takes effect at the end of December, subject to regulatory approval, AIG said in a statement. Mr. Shah, who will be based in Singapore, will report to Christopher Townsend, CEO of AIG General Insurance International.

Most recently, Mr. Shah served as chairman, president and CEO of MetLife Japan, a position he had held since 2013.

Mr. Townsend joined AIG from MetLife in October 2017.

Mr. Shah’s appointment was the second major executive move announced by AIG in less than 24 hours. The insurer announced Tuesday that Mark Lyons would replace Sid Sankaran as the insurer’s chief financial officer.

Messrs. Shah and Lyons are the latest among numerous senior-level executives that AIG CEO Brian Duperreault has brought in since he took the top job at the insurer last year.
