AIG names Lyons as CFO

American International Group Inc. named Mark D. Lyons as executive vice president and chief financial officer, replacing Sid Sankaran who had held the job since February 2016.

Mr. Lyons rejoined AIG as senior vice president and chief actuary in June.

Previously, he had been CFO and treasurer at Arch Capital Group Ltd., which he joined in 2002, but had worked at AIG earlier in his career.

He is one of numerous senior-level executives that AIG CEO Brian Duperreault has brought in since he  took the top job at the insurer last year.

“Since his arrival at AIG, Mark has made an immediate and positive impact on our company. With his proven track record as a public company CFO and his deep actuarial expertise, we are confident that he will further strengthen our financial processes and forecasting capabilities,” Mr. Duperreault said in a statement.

Mr. Sankaran will remain at AIG in an advisory capacity through the year-end reporting process for fiscal year 2018, the statement said.

He joined AIG as chief risk officer in 2010.
