Insurance professionals stake claim to opening mouths at holiday party

Twenty-six percent of Americans surveyed admit they have done something they regret at the company holiday party, according to a study released Monday by Chicago-based beverage company Four Loko.

The online survey of 2,000 people in November also narrowed down the list of which professions seem to engage in naughty behavior, with insurance professionals selected as those most likely to say something rude.

Ironically, those who work in human resources are most likely to commit the gravest offense: hooking up with a coworker. Forty-one percent of those surveyed say they know someone who has had such an encounter at a holiday party.

Those who work in the legal industry are the most likely to get loud at a holiday party, and realtors are most likely to bring a bad plus-one to the end-of-the-year office bash, according to the survey results.

As for the worst dance moves? Those working in information technology win that dance-off.

The survey also found that some holiday parties get so out of hand that there are legal ramifications — with 7% of Americans admitting to getting in trouble with the law during or after a company party.

Regrets? The survey found that 18% of Americans have been embarrassed to go to work the day after a company party, which Four Loko says “may have something to do with the fact that 36% of us have seen our boss do something embarrassing during the office get-together.”
