Maine insurance head Eric Cioppa to lead NAIC

Maine Insurance Superintendent Eric A. Cioppa will become president of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners on Jan. 1.

South Carolina Insurance Director Raymond G. Farmer will become president-elect of the Kansas City, Missouri-based organization, the NAIC announced at its 2018 fall meeting in San Francisco on Sunday.

Mr. Cioppa was confirmed as superintendent of the Maine Bureau of Insurance in September 2011, while Mr. Farmer was appointed by then-Gov. Nikki Haley to serve as director for the South Carolina Department of Insurance effective Nov. 13, 2012.

Hawaii Insurance Commissioner Gordon I. Ito will become vice president of the organization, while Idaho Insurance Director Dean L. Cameron will become secretary-treasurer, NAIC said Sunday in a statement.
