Chubb names Bermuda chief

Chubb Ltd. named Judy Gonsalves division president of Bermuda, succeeding Joseph Clabby, who was named chairman of Chubb Bermuda, the insurer said in a statement Wednesday.

The changes are effective immediately, and subject to regulatory review, the statement said.

Ms. Gonsalves, who was also named a vice president of Chubb Group, will have executive operating responsibility for Chubb’s Bermuda-based commercial property/casualty business, which writes high-limit excess liability, property, directors and officers liability, and political risk coverage worldwide, the statement said.

Previously, Ms. Gonsalves was executive vice president and chief underwriting officer of Chubb Bermuda.

She will remain in Bermuda and report to John Lupica, vice chairman, Chubb Group and president, North America major accounts and specialty insurance, the statement said.

In his newly created role, Mr. Clabby will serve in an advisory role to Ms. Gonsalves and the Chubb Bermuda team, the statement said. He will also join Chubb's North America field management leadership team and be based in Whitehouse Station, New Jersey, reporting to Christopher Maleno, Chubb's division president of its North American field operations.
