Data protection-related fines not covered in 20 EU countries: Aon

Analysis by U.K.-based insurance broker found that cyber insurance would not cover fines related to data protection regulations in 20 European countries including France, Spain, Italy and the United Kingdom, The National Law Review reported. U.S.-based insurance broker Marsh and McLennan Cos. Inc. said that insurance for data regulation-related fines depends on European Union members' local laws. Businesses can be fined €20 million ($23.5 million) or 4% of gross annual global revenue under the General Data Protection Regulation.
