Singapore fines chicken producers $20 million over cartel

Singapore's competition regulator has fined 13 fresh chicken suppliers $27 million Singapore ($20 million) for operating a cartel, Today Online reported. The Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore said that the 13 suppliers coordinated the amount and timing of price increases as well as agreeing not to compete for each other's customers. The cartel affected supermarkets, restaurants and hotels among other businesses as the distributors supply more than 90% of fresh chicken products in Singapore, the regulator added.
