Berkley forms unit with health care underwriting, financial lines

W.R. Berkley Corp. said Monday it has formed a Sebastopol, California-based Berkley Healthcare unit that is comprised of Berkley Healthcare Professional Underwriters and Berkley Healthcare Financial Lines.

Gregory A. Piltch, formerly West Zone president for American International Group Inc., has been named president, the Greenwich, Connecticut-based insurer said in its statement.

Mr. Piltch will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating additional and enhanced product offerings, the statement said.

Berkley Healthcare Professional Underwriters provides customized, comprehensive professional liability solutions, while Berkley Healthcare Financial Lines will offer a suite of coverages, including directors and officers liability, employment practices liability, errors and omissions and cyber liability, the statement said.
