Google could face stiff fines over location data collection

Google L.L.P. could face stiff fines related to its collection of location data which violates the European Union's privacy rules, The Register reported citing sources. An investigation by the Associated Press found that Google continues to collect an individual's location markers even when users believe they have disabled the data collection button. Under the EU's General Data Protection Regulation, Google could be fined up to 4% of its turnover for the violation.
