AmWINS forms two specialty marine MGAs

AmWINS Group Inc. said Monday it has formed two specialty managing general agencies focused on the marine industry, with capacity provided by Argonaut Insurance Co.

AmWINS Specialty Logistics Underwriters offers coverage for freight forwarders and third-party logistics operators that includes marine, cargo and transport liability.

Logistics liability coverages including shippers interest ocean cargo, shippers interest domestic transit, third-party warehousing, carriers legal liability, freight forwarders errors and omission, and warehouse legal liability, the Charlotte, North Carolina-based company said in its announcement.

The unit will be led by Sunrise, Florida-based executive vice president Alex Rosas.

Sentinel Marine Underwriters offers marine and cargo insurance coverage, including global risk control, for clients such as importers, exporters, manufacturers and wholesalers. 

Its coverages include worldwide cargo/transit, global stock throughput (transit and inventory), project cargo, and excess storage on stock throughput programs.

Executive vice presidents Mark Bernas and Keith Blair will lead the unit from Houston and New York, respectively. 

The MGAs, both of which will become part of AmWINS’ underwriting division, will issue its policies on admitted paper in all 50 states.
