Volkswagen likely to recall 124,000 electric cars

Germany-based automaker Volkswagen A.G. is likely to recall 124,000 electric and hybrid cars due to the presence of cadmium, a carcinogenic metal, in the vehicles' battery chargers, ET Auto reported citing media sources. Authorities have banned the metal's use in car parts as well as electrical appliances in Europe. The chargers were installed in some electric and hybrid cars of the Volkswagen, Audi and Porsche brands between 2013 and June in this year, the spokesman added.
