Ryanair refuses to pay compensation over canceled flights

Ireland-based Ryanair Holdings P.L.C. has refused to pay compensation totaling about €33 million ($38 million) after the airline canceled 600 flights due to recent strikes, Daily Star reported. Ryanair cabin crew members staged a series of strike recently disrupting the airline's operations. A spokeswoman at Ryanair said that the airline is not liable to pay compensation as the strikes fall under extraordinary circumstances according to European Union legislation.
