Wildfires raging near the city of Athens in Greece have disrupted transport and forced authorities to declare a state of emergency in the region, GreekReporter.com reported. The fires have ravaged seaside towns such as Rafina and Mati in the Penteli area, east of Athens and pine forests located west of the Greek capital city. The authorities have shut the main highways between the Peloponnese and the Greek mainland due to smoke.
