Ice cream makers accused of short-scooping customers

The makers of Halo Top ice cream are no angels when it comes to filling the cartons to the fullest, alleges a lawsuit filed last week in U.S. District Court in San Diego.

Halo Top markets itself as a guilt-free choice and keeps the calorie-per-carton low by under-filling “dramatically so at times,” reported ABC News.

"Purchasers of the premium-priced ice cream simply have no idea how much ice cream they will get each and every time they buy a Halo Top 'pint.' And Halo Top has been doing this for years," according to the lawsuit, accessed by ABC News.

The Los Angeles ice cream maker Eden Creamery scoffed at the suit, saying the claims against its Halo Top brand have no merit and blamed the settling of the product as is goes from factory to grocery cart, ABC reported.

"We have never and would never 'underfill' our pints," Eden Creamery said in a statement to the news network.
