Association calls for insurance uptake to protect bankers

The Indian Banks' Association has called on local banks to pool resources and buy insurance for bank officials amid an increase in fraud, The Indian Express reported. V.G. Kannan, the association's chief executive, said that bank officials are increasingly facing investigations and litigation from government agencies. R. Chandrasekaran, secretary general of India's General Insurance Council, said that insurers may need to design a new product for bankers.
