Earthquake disrupts operations at Osaka industrial hub

Japanese government officials said that a 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck the city of Osaka on June 18 disrupting factory operations at a local industrial hub and bursting water mains, Reuters reported citing media sources. Panasonic Corp. halted production at three plants while machinery firm Kubota Corp. and air-conditioner-maker Daikin Industries Ltd. stopped operations at two plants each. Toyota Motor Corp.'s unit Daihatsu Motor Co. also stopped production at its factories in Osaka and Kyoto. The Japan Meteorological Agency did not issue a tsunami warning.
