Ironshore snags Aon executive to head expanded M&A unit

Ironshore Inc. said Thursday it has recruited James R. Swan from Aon P.L.C. to be head of its expanded mergers and acquisitions insurance, Americas unit.

He will oversee M&A activities for multi-jurisdictional transactions within North and Latin America, Ironshore said in a statement, reporting to Rowan Bamford, Ironshore’s global head of mergers and acquisitions and tax.

At Aon, the New York-based Mr. Swan was most recently global chief operating officer of the M&A and transaction solutions division.

Navine Aggarwal, who previously was head of Americas M&A for Ironshore, joined Ascot Group Ltd. in January.

Ironshore also hired four additional M&A industry specialists for the New York office: Valentine Han, formerly a corporate associate with Reed Smith L.L.P.; Scott G. Pegram, most recently an M&A underwriter with American Insurance Group Inc.; Victoria Rosales, who comes to Ironshore from Willkie Farr & Gallagher L.L.P.; and Hilary Weiss, most recently an underwriter at XL Catlin. 

Cristina Merry del Val, M&A production specialist in Miami, will also report to Mr. Swan. She was most recently a specialty lines manager with Ironshore for Latin America.
