Italy fines Ryanair more than $2 million

Italy's competition authority fined Ireland-based airline Ryanair Holdings P.L.C. more than $2 million for mass-flight cancellations and failing to adequately inform affected passengers in 2017, Phys.org reported. 

The Autorita Garante della Concorrenza e del Mercato said that Ryanair initially failed to inform passengers of their right to financial compensation under European law. Ryanair canceled more than 20,000 flights between September 2017 and March due to large backlog of days off that its pilots had to take.
