Mitchell acquires independent medical exam provider

Mitchell International Inc. on Wednesday said it is expanding its medical management offering to include independent medical exams and other services with its acquisition of Seattle-based Medical Consultants Network L.L.C.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
San Diego-based Mitchell said in a statement that the acquisition will give it and its customers access to a national panel and network of providers — nearly 13,000 physicians with over 17,800 provider specialty-jurisdiction combinations — to perform IMEs and additional review services for Mitchell’s customer base of employers, insurance companies, state funds, third-party administrators and managed care organizations.
“This transaction brings a tremendous wealth of expertise to Mitchell, and further strengthens our medical management and clinical expert bench,” said Nina Smith, executive vice president and general manager for Mitchell’s casualty solutions group, in the statement.
