Guy Carpenter appoints executive

Guy Carpenter & Co. L.L.C., a subsidiary of Marsh & McLennan Cos. Inc., said Monday it appointed former Goldman Sachs Group Inc. executive Shiv Kumar to the newly created position of president and global leader of GC Securities, capital markets.

Based in New York, Mr. Kumar was previously global head of insurance structured finance at Goldman Sachs, Guy Carpenter said in a statement.

Mr. Kumar, who will report to vice chairman David Priebe, will oversee the GC Securities Capital Markets team. Cory Anger, global head of insurance-linked securities origination and structuring, and Chi Hum, global distribution leader, are among those GC Securities leaders reporting to Mr. Kumar.

At Goldman Sachs, Mr. Kumar was the project lead for more than 100 transactions and arranged $25 billion in financing. He covered insurance companies in the property and casualty, life and health, mortgage and public sectors, Guy Carpenter said.
