Ms. Sun, who will be based in Shanghai, is replacing Eric Zheng, who is leaving AIG to pursue other opportunities, AIG said in a statement.
She comes to AIG from Mercer Inc., the benefits consulting arm of Marsh & McLennan Cos. Inc., where she was most recently CEO of Mercer’s Hong Kong & South and East Asia Zone.
Ms. Sun will report to Chris Townsend, CEO of International General Insurance, and her appointment is subject to regulatory approval by the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission.
The announcement is the latest in a series of high-level appointments at AIG as CEO Brian Duperreault continues to restructure the company.
