Old Republic announces senior management appointments

Old Republic International Corp. on Tuesday named Craig R. Smiddy president and chief operating officer, succeeding R. Scott Rager, who was named executive chairman, as part of senior management appointments that are effective June 1. 

W. Todd Gray was named to the additional post of senior vice president and treasurer at ORI, Chicago-based Old Republic said in a statement. He continues with current responsibilities as senior vice president-operations and finance of the Old Republic General Insurance Group, the largest of Old Republic's business segments.

Cheryl A. Jones, executive vice president-chief human resources and communications officer of Old Republic's Title Insurance Group, was named to the additional executive position of senior vice president-national benefits director for the corporation and all of its subsidiaries.

Phillip A. Schutt was named senior vice president-deputy chief investment officer for the management of ORI's $13 billion portfolio of bonds and stocks.
